Midnight Memories Album Review
“Something Great,” which is the name of one of the many new songs by One Direction, is definitely a description of this album.
One Direction’s Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik have released their third album. The album, Midnight Memories, was released on November 25 and features 18 new songs.
The boys of One Direction are known for their previous albums Up All Night and Take Me Home, which were very successful. Their previous albums had songs that were revolved around a pop and rock genre. This album is different and is leaning towards a new sound.
Songs like “Through the Dark” give a Mumford and Sons feel, while “Little Black Dress” and “Midnight Memories” lean more towards rock and roll.
Although the song “Does He Know?” sounds like Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” the rest of the songs are original and very catchy.
All of the songs deal with romance and love, but the heartfelt “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” is about their time touring and thinking about home.
My personal favorites are “Happily” and “Better than Words,” which are upbeat and have the band’s usual pop sound.
Although the style of music has changed a bit, the fans will still love the new album; it is currently placed in the Top 10 on iTunes’ Top Albums list.
Jamilee Hoffman, a sophomore and big fan of One Direction, said, “I will basically like any song they release, but I have to say this is their best album yet. Their album is very enjoyable and it makes the fans happy.”
One Direction’s new album is excellent and the songs will be featured during their Where We Are tour, which will be coming to Philadelphia on August 13.
