If you have not heard of A Complete Unknown yet, you’re likely living under a rock. James Mangold’s fresh Bob Dylan biopic that covers the musician’s transition from a classic folk and protest singer/songwriter into an electric rockstar, can only be described as electrifying. Timothée Chalamet stars as a young Bob and over the past couple of months, this man of extreme talent has been known to do some things over the course of the promos for the new movie that have us not only questioning his sanity, but also sparking us to check out the trailers and movie tickets for A Complete Unknown. Here is a countdown of the top six most unhinged moments from the A Complete Unknown Press Tour.
6. NYC A Complete Unknown Premiere- The Throwback Cosplay
On December 13, A Complete Unknown had its premiere event and afterparty in New York City. Some like to think that this is where Timothée debuted his signature scarf look, as he cosplayed real-life Bob’s look at the 2003 Masked and Anonymous screening during The Sundance Film Festival. Can you spot the difference?
5. Nardwaur Appearance
Nardwaur The Human Serviette hosting wacky interviews is nothing new, and he has been known to do extensive research on his past encounters with stars such as Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, and more. Timothée decided to match his vibes, starting with his choice to roll in on the floor as his entrance. Throughout the almost hour-long interview, Timmy was noticeably excited and pleased with Nardwaur’s knowledge.
4. NYC Lookalike Contest
The first of many celebrity look-alike competitions, back on October 27th, New Yorkers gathered in Washington Square Park, to watch hundreds of contenders dressed in signature Chalamet characters, show off their looks and be voted on for a grand prize of $50. The funniest part of the whole event was that it was attended by the real-life movie star. And then eventually shut down by the cops.
3. Bike to Paris Premiere
Continuing with his history of unpredictable premiere outfits, Timothée made a very bold choice at A Complete Unknown’s London Debut. He pulled up to the red carpet on a Lime bike, amid the gasps of photographers and the $79 fine he obtained while parking, he proudly posed.
2. Insane Instagram Live
On December 23rd, shortly before A Complete Unknown hit theaters in the US, Chalamet hit the livestream button (maybe accidentally?!?) on Instagram. Starting at 3:16 pm PST, the scene was fourteen minutes long and thoroughly confusing. The livestream consisted of Timmy dancing shirtless to “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas, flashing lights, and motivational
messages appearing on a huge screen. He ends up thrusting his head into a sink, soaking his hair and then hugging a bunch of silhouetted people. Why? It is a complete unknown.
1. Incredible SNL performance
Only three times in history has SNL invited someone to perform as the musical guest on the show, that is not a musical artist in their profession. Even then, it has been over thirty years since it has been done. Yet, Timothée was given a chance to prove, once again, that not only can he perfectly embody “the man that is Bob Dylan” but he can also add something of his own, honoring the rock icon in a way that we haven’t really seen before. On the last show before Saturday Night Live’s 5oth Anniversary, Timmy was both the host and the musical guest, keeping us on our toes, he stunned with three deep cuts. “Outlaw Blues”, “Three Angels”, and “Tomorrow is a Long Time”. And he absolutely killed it.
