Eagles vs Washington- Week 10 Predictions
The Eagles battle The Commanders in the Linc tonight on Monday Night Football. See how some of our writers see the game going:
Uday Mittal:
The Eagles play in another primetime game on Monday night, allowing NFL fans around the globe to see the only undefeated team have a chance to either dominate or be dethroned.
The Eagles have been red-hot offensively and defensively. They are 2nd in points per game, 3rd in touchdowns, and 7th in yards per play.
They are also last in the league in turnovers while also having the most turnovers, averaging 2.3 takeaways a game. They have only allowed 18 touchdowns defensively which is 4th best, and only 177.6 passing yards a game which is second best.
Jalen Hurts has been in the MVP conversation all season and looks to improve his chances with a great game against the Commanders. I predict he will score 4 total touchdowns, with 400 total yards.
Devonta Smith will be playing on his birthday, and last year he scored 2 touchdowns on his birthday game against the Broncos. I predict he performs great with 113 yards and a touchdown. I also believe Dallas Goedert and AJ Brown will continue their dominance and combine for 220 yards with 2 touchdowns.
Miles Sanders bounced back from a zero-touchdown season last year and has been a great asset to this offense. The Commanders allow 113.3 rushing yards a game, and I believe they will allow Sanders to feast with 87 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, I expect more of the same, with dominance up front and lockdown work from the secondary. I predict the Eagles will only allow 2 touchdowns, one coming at the end in garbage time. Darius Slay and James Bradberry have been stellar, along with safety Chauncey-Gardner Johnson. I believe that Heinecke will throw at least 1 int and get sacked at least 4 times.
Avonte Maddox was put on the injury reserve by the Eagles, which means Josiah Scott and Mario Goodrich will get playing time at the slot corner position. The Commanders will try to exploit this hole, but with the Eagles’ depth and talent I don’t see them succeeding.
I believe the Eagles will win easily, winning 35-14 and improving to 9-0.
Krish Rao:
The Eagles have been dominating the NFL, holding no defeats on their record. Winning this matchup will put the Eagles at a 9-0 record, putting them one step closer to clinching the NFC East.
The Washington Commanders are in last place in the NFC East right now and are fighting to beat out the Giants and Cowboys in the division. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles had a good performance last week against the Houston Texans, winning 29-17.
Hurts stacked up some good stats with 243 passing yards, 2 touchdown passes, a lower-than-average 23 rushing yards, and a 2-point rushing conversion. Hurts also threw with good accuracy, but he did fumble the football in the game. Hopefully, Hurts can improve and play consistently against the Commanders to pull out a win.
Miles Sanders has been doing well in the run game, with 93 rushing yards and a touchdown rush last game against the Texans. The Commanders have also been doing decent with Taylor Heinicke at quarterback and may provide a challenge for the Eagles.
Nevertheless, I pick the Eagles to pull out with a victory over the Commanders with a score of 27-20, continuing with a winning record and no losses.
Siddarth Thota:
The Eagles face off against the Commanders at home. The Eagles’ offense will fare well against the Commanders’ secondary. AJ Brown has been electric, already having 718 yards on the season.
Jalen Hurts has also been a great quarterback with his legs and his arm.
Other smaller players will include Devonta Smith and Miles sanders, who I believe will step up after having a quiet couple of games. The offensive line has been equally as good but will be challenged by the likes of Jonathan Allen.
On the flip side, Philadelphia’s defense has a small edge over the commander’s offense. The Eagles’ defensive line has been stellar this season, with Josh Sweat, Hasson Reddick, and Javon Hargrave all contributing, along with veterans like Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham. The Commanders’ offensive line has 2 starters out today, which won’t make things any easier for them.
Terry McLaurin will be a challenge for Darius slay, but I believe the star cornerback will get the best of them. Although with Avonte Maddox injured, the Eagles might have a problem with the other commander’s receivers.
The Eagles’ run defense has been average but I believe they will defend Antonio Gibson well, smothering the Commander’s offense.
I believe the Eagles will beat the Commanders at home, winning 26 – 17.
